...NCBC INFO FOR CQU

The 2009 National Campus Band Competition (NCBC) is open for entries at universities across the country. If you are a currently enrolled CQUniversity student and are part of a band, sign up now and make some noise in the biggest band competition in the southern hemisphere!

The CQUni Student Association will be sending 2 bands to the State Semi Finals in September. If you want to be one of those bands you need to compete in the CQUni heat being held at The Heritage Hotel Rockhampton on Wednesday 22 July. The 2 highest point scoring bands from the heat will
go on to compete at the State Semi Finals to be held on 9 & 10 September at The 2nd Degree, University of QLD, St Lucia Campus, Brisbane. The State Finals follow on 12 September and hopefully CQUni will be represented by one of our bands. The winning band from each State Final will compete at the National Final held 27 September, with the National winner taking home $5,000!

The competition is judged on originality, musicianship, stage presence, recording viability and audience response - so spread the word and start rehearsals!

We need 3 or more bands for the CQUni heat to go ahead. The only requirement for entry is that one band member must be a currently enrolled CQUni student. Every student band is welcome to compete regardless of campus, location or mode of study, however travel and accommodation expenses will be paid for by the band.

Contact Kerry Parsons on ncbc@cqu.edu.au or 07 4930 6327 for more information and to register your interest!!!!

Eskimo Joe formed in 1997 to enter the NCBC and their first ever gig was the first competition heat.   They ended up winning the competition.
